The Subclass 189 visa is a Skilled Independent Visa. This means that you do not need to be sponsored by an Australian employer or state or territory government agency to apply for this visa. To be eligible for the Subclass 189 visa, you must:

• Have a valid passport
• Be at least 18 years old
• Meet the skills and experience requirements for an occupation on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
• Obtain at least 65 points in the points-based system
• Meet the English language requirements
